'Agenda Himalaya Se'- organised at IGRMS

A nine day event 'Agenda Himalayan Se' was organised at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) from 11th November to 19th November. Around 250 artits from Himalayan region – Jammu & Kashmir, Uttranchal and Himachal Pradesh participated in this event. Artists from Chamouli, Sirmour, Chamba, Lahol, Ladakh, Uttrakhand etc showcased their talents by presenting traditional cuisine and folk art of dances and songs. Traditional food was being displayed at 'Himgram' of the Sangrahalaya permises. Out of various food delicacies, Ladakh's traditional cuisine-'chang', 'chuttagi', 'namtuk' (sup)and Lahol's 'laud', 'saibackthorn' (herbal tea), Apple tea of Chamba region and 'asra' of Uttrakhand were remained on priority list of the food lovers. Other than these, visitors also enjoyed sips of Gur Gur (butter tea) prepared by Ladakhi artist on the first day of commencement of the programme.
Further to add more glamour to the event, there were presentations of folk arts by the artists of Himalayas. The artists presented tribal folks of their respective region in their traditional forms and custumes. 'Pandava Natrya' of Uttrakhand region and 'Mentok Stanmo' (flower dance) of Ladakhis were praised most by the present audiences. Besides, dance troupes of Lahol, Chamba, Kargil, Kinnor, J&K were also being appriciated. These presentations were held at Veethi Sankul indoor auditoriumof Manav Sangrahalaya.
In this event, music maestro Abhay Rustam Sopori and Pandit Bhajan Sopori enthralled audiences with their outstanding performance on 'Santoor' on the evenings of 17th November and 18th November respectively.
An exhibition – 'Himalaya Se Tasveerein' photographed by artist Dr Suchita Sharma and Sangrahalaya was inaugurated by senior artist from Ladakh Shri Sonam Sopouri on 16th November.
The artists from the Himalayan region sdisplayed traditional items in a workshop which include pashmina shwals,, chamba rumaals, natural products such as apricot powder, soap, wooden statues, chamba footwears etc, With all pomp and shows the event concluded on 19th November.

'Chhath Baad' organised at IGRMS

In a series of post Diwali festivals, 'Chhath Baad' organised at (Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya) IGRMS, Bhopal from October 28th to November 3. A week long workshop was held under this festival. About 14 artists hailing from Bihar showcased their talent and skill in this workshop. The artists displayed various items madatory for 'Chhath' and other auspicious programme viz, lac bangles, madhubani paintings, sikki grass, thekua- a kind of prasad, sanchas, earthen lamps etc.
Further, to add more glimpse to the festival Bhojpuri artists: actor- singer Manoj Tiwari, upcoming singer Satyander Kumar, renowned singer Malini Awasthi and Padamshree awardee Sharda Sinha enthralled audiences with their outstandings at Mukta Aakash of Avritti Bhawan of Sangrahalaya.
Later, on the concluding day of the festival noted singer Smt Sharda Sinha inaugurated a special exhibition focused on Chhath on November 3 at Veethi Sankul indoor museum building.
